My name is Jenna Brooks. I am currently a junior in Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University with a major in Secondary English Education and a minor in dance. I grew up in Orange County, California, where my family currently still resides. I have always had a passion for English and teaching it that was cultivated by my middle and high school teachers who inspired me to follow in their footsteps. I would especially like to thank Mrs. Skidmore, Mrs. Votava, Mrs. Ritner and Miss Stress for being such great role models for me to aspire to be.
Once I came to college, I began to have a particular interest in writing because of several professors here. The first was Dr. Joseph Foy, who taught a challenging but rewarding Human Event class that pushed me to become a better writer and seek to help others do the same. My former and current Intern Mentor Teachers, Dr. Jennifer Parchesky and Mr. John Cano, have given me the opportunity to work with students like the ones I will eventually teach, as well as lots of great advice about my future career.
Finally, I would like to thank my director, Dr. James Blasingame. Throughout my time in his class and working on this project, I have constantly been inspired by his dedication of his life to the study of teaching English and the impact that he has been able to make in this field. I can only hope that one day I will have even a fraction of the influence that he does.
